had made during recent years.

Members heard a talk by Mr. G.N. Walker on Artificial Satellites.
May 2nd, 1960,
Mooihoek Observatory, at 7.30 pm.
Dr. van Wyk gave a talk, his subject being "some aspects of the Solar System".
June 13th, 1960,
House of Mr. G.N. Walker, 39 Vilonel Street, at 7.30 pm.
The following Resolutions were passed:-
1. That the annual subscription to the Centre for members and associate members
be fixed at 2/6.
2. That any member or associate member who fails to pay his annual subscription
to the Centre within three calendar months of due date shall cease to receive
notices from the Centre until the subscription is paid.
July 27th, 1960,

2nd Annual General Meeting. The Hon. Secretary read the Annual Report of the
Centre for the year 1959/60. Balance: 9/2. The following office-holders were
elected:

Members heard a talk by Dr. Velghe on "The Boyden Observatory and its work",
and then observed through the 13 inch telescope.
October 7th, 1960,
Physics Building, UOFS, at 7.30 pm.
Mr. J van Ellinckhuyzen gave a talk on the making of telescopic mirrors.
November 7th,
1960, Mooihoek Observatory, at 4 pm.
Members waited for a break in the clouds to enable them to see
the
transit ofMercury. Three telescopes were available. The sun did not
emerge until just after six o'clock. Then Mercury was seen against the disc.
